Who We Serve

What You’ll Do

Enthusiastically participate in the Atlas Teaching Fellow program designed to improve one’s teaching craft through intentional learning, observation, and practice
Teach under the guidance of exemplary teachers and instructional coaches
Receive, retain, and apply feedback and guidance given from various coaching parties
Carry out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the assigned lesson plan(s)
Develop meaningful relationships with and make a tangible impact on the minds and lives of students
Maintain a neat and orderly classroom
Take attendance in accordance with school procedures
Indicate to students at the beginning of class what the basic expectations are for behavior in accordance with Atlas Preparatory School policies
Ensure that students are never left unattended in the classroom
Maintain familiarity with emergency evacuation routes for the classrooms assigned
Be knowledgeable in the procedures for referring students with disciplinary problems
Be consistently aware of School procedures and regulations
Perform other related duties as assigned

Who You Are

High School Diploma or equivalent
Ability to successfully pass required background screening
A desire to become a full-time classroom/qualified teacher
Ability to take feedback well and quickly implement changes
Commitment and complete belief in the Atlas mission
Demonstrated maturity, humility, self-reflection, and a strong work ethic
Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor in the face of competing demands and external pressures

Desired Qualifications:

Prior teaching experience with low-income, minority, or historically underachieving students

Essential Job Functions

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Prolonged periods of standing and sitting
Must be able to reach, stoop, kneel, push, and pull
Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times
Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed
Must be able to successfully abide by all policies and procedures of Atlas Preparatory School
