Our advocacy efforts focus on state policies and district initiatives that ensure all Colorado children have access to high-quality public school options, including charter schools. Build your charter school knowledge and advocacy skills while participating in a powerful, influential statewide community that intercedes on behalf of our schools and, more importantly, our students.

We’ll give you everything you need to make taking action for charters quick and easy!

CIVIC: A School Advocacy Pilot Project

CIVIC Stands for Charter Involvement and Voice in Colorado. Each participating school will receive a $1500 stipend. In exchange, participant school are asked to do the following:

  1. Name a Staff Liaison + two Parent/Board/Staff Liaisons
  2. Share League messages through channels families already use
  3. Sign up staff, board members and parents for our newsletter (Goal: 40) 
  4. Activate parents when there is a “Call to Action”
  5. Join calls with League staff when asked

The easiest way to get started is by signing up to receive our Policy & Advocacy Matters Newsletter. By doing so, you join a select cohort of charter school staff, students, families, and supporters who use their voice to advocate for choice.

We'll send monthly updates on advocacy, training, and events, and more during the legislative session (January-May). 

 

2. Share your charter school story

Charter schools and students are doing extraordinary things every day! Whether you're a parent, teacher, staff member, alumnus, or community member, your unique story on the importance of charter schools can help us change the narrative. Your story matters. 

3. Contact your policymaker

Educating our legislators at the Capitol takes time and effort. While we work hard behind the scenes under the golden dome, policymakers must also hear the personal accounts of and support for charters. Find your legislator.
