Learning with purpose

Full- or Part-Time Special Education Teacher (middle/high school)

Do you think like we do?
Are you a trailblazer, observer, visionary, and innovator ready to discover learning with purpose alongside a team of students and colleagues?  We are looking for a creative, curious, student-centered educator to join our team. Our special education program is fully integrated in general education and your caseload currently has only 10 students, all of whom are super awesome kids! A full-time paraprofessional helps ensure that learning supports are implemented for all students.

We opened in August 2018, serving a diverse population of 150 students in grades 6-10 from around Fort Collins. Next year we will have grown to 180 students in grades 6-12. Our small school and our focus on social emotional learning and a prosocial school culture makes Compass a special place to work. Happy students and a well-connected, collaborative, staff have made us one of the top performing schools in Poudre School District as evidenced by our outstanding school performance rating in 2022 and the many awards our school and students have won in the first four years of operation.

What does it mean to be a teacher at Compass?
Compass is looking for a teacher who is ready to collaborate with general education teachers who are creating and implementing meaningful, relevant content across disciplines. As the special educator for our school, you will push-in and pull out students with mild to moderate special needs and schedule with the paraprofessional to ensure that they have the learning support they need. This person sees themselves as fitting right into our team of design thinkers and creatives and is continuously looking for effective ways to serve their caseload of students to ensure their growth and success.
