Overview of Position
Flagstaff Academy seeks a Preschool Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher (ages
3-5) Preschool Program. The Assistant Teacher will work in close collaboration with staff to
ensure that there is meaningful support for students in content and behavior management.
Qualifications sought:
We seek a talented educator who can inspire students and teachers, and be inspired by our
mission – “where science and technology take flight.” The successful candidate is expected to
deliver dynamic classroom experiences with high educational expectations and accountability.
We seek an educator with:
- The ability to work collaboratively
- Ecellent communication skills,
- A willingness to work closely with students and staff,
- Experience using technology in the classroom,
- The candidate’s pedagogy should be student-centered and practiced in differentiated instruction.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Group Leader qualified through the Colorado Department of Human Services
- Colorado Department of Human Services 15 hours of training (can be completed within 6 months after hire).
Specifically, we seek the following:
- Interest in supporting children to succeed and find joy in their educational experience
- Experience working with a preschool children
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and maintain a joyful and flexible and creative mindset in the workplace
- Ability to follow Flagstaff Academy policies and procedures
- Ability to accept continuous feedback improvement strengths and growth areas to build upon impact with students.
- Ability to demonstrate tact, have a flexible mindset, and demonstrate helpfulness in dealing with staff, students, parents, and visitors to the school.
About Flagstaff Academy Charter School
Located in Longmont, Flagstaff Academy is a tuition-free public charter school serving grades
kindergarten through eighth. Our school also offers a tuition-based full- and part-time preschool
program for three and four year olds.
Since its founding in 2005, Flagstaff Academy has grown into Longmont’s premier science and
technology school. Our mission is to develop students who are equipped to be well-rounded,
ethical leaders in the world community with a foundation based on science and technology.
As a public charter school, Flagstaff Academy is operated by a board of directors made up of
parents and community members. Our school serves approximately 800 students and is part of
the St. Vrain Valley School District. The Flagstaff Academy guiding principles are:

Pay Range
Pay for this position is $17-$19/hour, depending on experience.
