Your Role and Responsibilities:
As a Middle School English Language Arts teacher, you’ll have the exciting opportunity to:
Teach Engaging Lessons: Deliver high-quality lessons that cover various aspects of English Language Arts, including literature, writing, grammar, and critical thinking, all aligned with Colorado Academic Standards
Create a Positive Learning Atmosphere: Foster a classroom environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and a love for literature
Implement the HMH Into Literature Curriculum: Use cutting-edge programs like the HMH Into Literature curriculum to teach a diverse range of literary genres, building students' critical reading, writing, and communication skills
Guide Student Learning: Plan, guide, and evaluate students’ learning journeys while ensuring they receive a well-rounded education tailored to their unique needs
Incorporate "I Do, We Do, You Do" Methodology: Implement this proven teaching practice to model concepts ("I do"), guide students through collaborative learning ("We do"), and provide opportunities for independent practice ("You do") to ensure mastery and confidence in ELA skills
Track Student Progress: Maintain lesson plans, gradebooks, and conduct regular assessments to monitor student growth and achievement
Collaborate with Families and Staff: Work closely with parents and other staff members to ensure a supportive, positive learning environment for all students
Foster a Lifelong Love of Literature: Help students embrace the power of language and literature, nurturing their intellectual growth and independence

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (required)
Valid Colorado Teaching License with endorsement in Secondary English Language Arts OR 36 credit hours in English Language Arts OR passing score on the PRAXIS English Language Arts exam
Experience: Prior teaching experience preferred, or relevant experience working with middle school students
Preferred Experience: Familiarity with Direct Instruction methods, such as the Madeline Hunter Method (I do, we do, you do), and a classical education approach
