Colorado High School Charter is seeking a STEM focused Paraprofessional at our GES campus in Denver, Colorado for the 2024-2025 school year. In partnership with a number of community organizations, Colorado High School provides students with a unique and innovative learning environment that allows them to focus on engaging and relevant core content classes (Math, Science, Social Studies and English Language Arts) while taking advantage of numerous post-secondary exploration opportunities, such as concurrent enrollment and community partner classes and programs.

About: Colorado High School Charter (CHSC) is one of the leading alternative education campuses in Denver, serving students in grades 9-12. Over the last two years, CHSC GES has achieved Performance School status as rated by Colorado Department of Education. Paraprofessional Responsibilities:

  • Willingness to support various STEM related classes and other classes when necessary.
  • Support the classroom effectively through a warm demeanor approach, by developing quality relationships and high expectations for students to maintain a productive learning environment.
  • Positively impact achievement and differentiate instruction based on the needs of students, including multilingual, special education, and gifted and talented students.
  • Work collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Support and actively participate in professional learning communities, professional development, and staff team-building exercises.
  • Actively participate with inclusivity work on a personal and school level through constant self-reflection, actively seeking and exploring diverse perspectives, a love of learning, growing and challenging yourself and others.
  • Support and willingly engage with Restorative Justice Practices.
  • Collaborate with teachers, peers, instructional coach, and administration to refine practice.
  • Engage families and community members through phone calls and CHSC Family Nights.
  • Develop meaningful relationships with students, their families and the communities they come from.
  • Work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8:30 to 3:30 alternating Fridays. There will be occasional evening commitments for school events.

Qualifications
Colorado High School Charter seeks candidates with strong character, passion for supporting students of diverse backgrounds and needs, and a relentless commitment to improvement and learning.
Required:

  • One of the following:
  • GED/Diploma with previous paraprofessional/teaching experience
  • Associate's degree
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated ability to support multiple learning styles
  • Strong communication, organization, and planning skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly, facilitating positive relationships with students and coworkers
  • Problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in the use of technology
  • Permanent US work authorization

Desired:

  • Experience working with young people who have struggled personally or academically in conventional school settings.

Compensation

  • Compensation for new hires will be set at $20.50 per hour. A comprehensive benefits package is included. Paraprofessionals are eligible for the Federal Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program.
