Mountain Phoenix Community School is accepting applications for
full-time Early Childhood Lead Teachers for the 2025-26 school year.
The Lead Early Childhood Teacher will have a deep understanding of Waldorf early childhood education and live into the beauty of it. The teacher will provide a safe, loving, nurturing environment for the children. We are looking for a teacher who has strong communication skills, demonstrates warmth and compassion, knowledge of child development, and is able to observe and care for our children’s physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual development and wellbeing. She/He/They will hold parent evenings and be a resource for families throughout their child’s kindergarten journey. The classes consist of 16 - 24 children and a full-time Assistant Teacher.
All employees of the school will be employed on an at-will basis and will meet fingerprinting and background check requirements. All Teachers will meet the “in-field” guidelines set forth in the Colorado state ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) plan, by meeting at least one of the following requirements (1) endorsement on a Colorado teaching license; (2) holding at least a BA or higher in the relevant subject area; (3) holding at least a BA in any content area and completion of 36 semester credit hours in the subject matter in which s/he/they teach(es); or (4) holding at least a BA in any content area and passing a State Board approved content exam in the relevant subject area. The school recognizes the value of state teacher certification and will encourage teachers to pursue their license.
Kindergarten Required Qualifications:
- Waldorf Training and Experience Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited University
- Qualified Teacher as set forth in the Colorado State ESSA Plan or meet requirement via State Board ECE Exam (can be completed within first year of employment)
- K - Grade 3 Early Literacy Instruction Endorsement (can be completed within one year of hiring)
- Active and up to date in PDIS with credential level of 3 or higher
Pre-K Required Qualifications:
- Waldorf Training and Experience Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited University Preferred (minimum of Associates Degree)
- Qualified Teacher as set forth in the Colorado State ESSA Plan or meet requirement via State Board ECE Exam (can be completed within first year of employment)
- ECT Qualifications
- Active and up to date in PDIS with credential level 3 or higher
The ideal candidate will have completed Waldorf Teacher training and/or have experience teaching in a school using the Waldorf methodology, meet teacher requirements under ESSA, and seek to carry and nurture a class for many years.
