Position Summary:

Our co-curricular teachers model good character and provide excellent instruction in their content areas based on classical pedagogy and curriculum. Our Fine Art candidate will be organized, diligent, and devoted to helping all students grow in wisdom and virtue. We seek a teacher who is willing to take on multiple fine art disciplines such as music and theater classes or music and dance classes. Classes may range from Kindergarten through 10th grade depending on discipline.
Essential Functions:
Cultivating virtue through instruction, mentorship, and programming
Maintaining professionalism in conduct and communication, striving to exemplify our core virtues
Prepare unit and lesson plans for all courses in alignment with Hillsdale College's K12 Program Guide for each school year
Teach and mentor students, utilizing classical pedagogy methods
Assign, collect, grade, and return graded work in a timely manner
Continuously monitor student progress and self-evaluate how best to support effective student learning
Identify struggling or advanced students to provide additional support or academic extensions
Collaborate with Students Services team to meet requirements of special educational plans, such as IEPs, 504s, and others
Assist in daily operations of the school (e.g., taking attendance, supervising student arrivals, passing periods in hallways, lunchtime and recess supervision) on a shared schedule
Maintain confidentiality in student records
Maintains professional relationship with students, parents, and colleagues as a partner in the community of learners
Deliver engaging and inclusive Fine Arts lessons in multiple diciplines for students in grades K-9, focusing on skill development
Evaluate and monitor student progress through regular assessments and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration
Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation
Manage and maintain Fine Arts equipment and supplies, ensuring they are safe and in good condition
Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations.

Required Skills/Abilities
Bachelor's Degree/passing score on the State Praxis in the subject area
Strong background in content areas; willingness to receive specific training
Proficiency in a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their personal best
Conviction in the values of a rigorous liberal arts education

Commitment to model moral character in line with the school's core virtues

Physical Requirements:
Able to lift up to 15 pounds
Able to traverse the classroom and the school
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, or standing to teach
Able to supervise outdoor recess
