Position Summary:

Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction seeks a Speech Language Pathologist to join our Student Services team. 

This role involves developing individualized treatment plans, providing therapy in individual and group settings, and collaborating with families, caregivers, and other professionals to support clients' progress. 

Essential Functions

Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations for speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders

Has or is eligible for Colorado licensure and preferably holds ASHA certification

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on client needs

Provide direct therapy sessions in individual and group settings, adapting methods to best meet client progress

Collaborate with family members, caregivers, and other health professionals to support the overall treatment plan

Maintain accurate and detailed client records, documenting progress, challenges, and adjustments to treatment

Case manage students on an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for Speech services

Participate in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings and other school or team-related discussions when required

Provide consultation and training to caregivers, educators, and other relevant stakeholders

Stay current with best practices and evidence-based techniques in speech and language therapy

Other duties as needed

Required Skills/Abilities:

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders

Current Colorado state SLP licensure or eligibility for licensure

Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), preferred

Previous experience in a school setting preferred, with an understanding of classical education values and practices being a plus

Strong assessment, counseling, and consultation skills

Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Knowledge of state and federal laws related to special education and mental health services

Compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting students and families

Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive school environment

Proactive and adaptable to the dynamic needs of a school setting

Commitment to the policies, mission, and vision of Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools Inc.

Commitment to high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-government

Knowledge of classical education (or the willingness and desire to learn)

Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to effectively articulate information and issues

Ability to provide excellent customer service and always maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds

Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height by bending or leaning in order to work with each child

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, or standing
