JOB DESCRIPTION:
Summary/Objective:
To provide services to students with disabilities as defined in their Individualized Education Program and to work collaboratively with related services providers and general educators to ensure students receive an appropriate education.
Essential Functions:
•Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students;
•Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students;
•Maintains a discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all student and staff in accordance with school and county policies;
•Ensures adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students;
•Uses instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives and standards;
•Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required;
•Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media to meet the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved;
•Respects students' personal spaces throughout the day;
•Implements students' IEP plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate;
•Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation;
•Performs other duties as assigned.
•Maintains confidentiality regarding students' information.
Additional Qualifications:
Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students. Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies. Visual, auditory and ambulatory ability. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Conflict management skills. Strong organizational skills. Empathetic. Positive relationship builder. Knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to perform the function of the position as outlined.
Travel: None
Salary: Salary placement on District Six Certified Salary schedule is dependent on the employees’ education and/or work experience. Certified/licensed employees will be granted one (1) year for each full year of contractual and/or work experience up to a maximum of fifteen (15) years.
