Mission
The French American School of Denver’s mission is to develop bilingual, bi-literate learners through a French language-immersion curriculum meeting the highest educational standards of the United States and France and delivered in a highly diverse learning environment that promotes critical thinking, creativity, and empathy.
In this role, you will:
● Create a nurturing, safe, engaging and rigorous learning environment
● Foster trusting, collaborative relationships with families
● Understand and implement culturally responsive teaching practices
● Establish consistent expectations and classroom routines for students
● Establish clear learning goals and objectives related to the FASDenver curriculum
● Plan, prepare, and present lessons, assignments, and instructional materials aligned to the approved curriculum
● Differentiate instruction to meet varying student needs
● Observe and evaluate student performance and development
● Maintain complete and accurate records of student academic, language, and social/emotional progress
● Analyze student assessment data to inform instructional planning
● Provide instruction remotely, if necessary
● Participate in regular feedback sessions from colleagues and school leaders to improve instructional practices
● Participate in and contribute to collaborative staff professional development sessions that drive school improvement and growth of the school
● Improve skills and knowledge base in current research and best practices in language immersion, second language acquisition, culturally responsive education, classroom technology use, problem solving, and interdisciplinary instructional practices
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree (any subject)
• Completion, or willingness to complete, CDE READ Act training and/or CDE Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) 45 contact hours
• Must possess one or more of the following:
• Current Colorado teaching license with elementary education endorsement or equivalent from another state to be converted to a Colorado teaching license
• Passing scores on the elementary PRAXIS test
• An official transcript demonstrating a degree (graduate or undergraduate) in elementary education
• 36 credit hours in elementary education coursework
• Pass a background check
• Demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
• 3+ years language immersion teaching experience in elementary or middle school, depending on applied for grade level
• Multilingual Education (MLE) experience
• Some knowledge of the French language
Salary
• This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with a salary range negotiable based on qualifications and years of teaching experience.
