Job Title: Dean of Faculty
Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver (ACAND), Brighton, CO
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Headmaster
Work Hours/Days: Extended Year including a school day schedule (typically 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and staff work days during the school year.
Salary: $65,000-$80,000 annually
Essential Functions:
Oversees Department Heads, Teachers, and Teaching Assistants
Manages, supports, and develops faculty leadership including department heads
Mentors teachers and teacher assistants of all experience levels
Develops and oversees the Teacher training program with support of the Headmaster and Dean of Students
Monitors and conducts observations and evaluations of classroom instruction and pedagogy
Supports alignment of academic program with the schools mission and vision, Hillsdale's K12 Curriculum, and direction from the Headmaster
Tracks and reviews lesson planning, teacher newsletters, and grade collection in conjunction with the Headmaster
Oversees the Apprentice Teacher training program
Conducts teacher observations and evaluations with a focus on pedagogy and curriculum
Identifies needs of ongoing professional development in matters regarding instruction and pedagogy all faculty members and develops, coordinates, and implements professional development
Engages regularly with Hillsdale Teacher Support Team and supports teacher development through Hillsdale teaching resources
Assists the Headmaster to ensure teaching talent acquisition and retention
Assists the Headmaster in the operation the school
Serves on the Site Executive Team
Requirements:
Commitment to the mission and vision of Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools of Colorado
Commitment to high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-government
Familiarity with the philosophy and pedagogy of classical education preferred
Extensive classroom experience preferred
Masters degree preferred
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively articulate information and issues
Superior organization, communication, and computer skills
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
Ability to develop positive and professional relationships with team members
Ability to provide excellent customer service and always maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Willingness to support the school leadership team as needed
Adherence to all school policies
Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations
Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds
Must be able to traverse the classroom and the school
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer
Must be able to supervise outdoor duties
