Purpose of Job:

Purpose:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides fiscal leadership, direction and supervision of all financial operations of the school. They advise the Chief Executive Officer and the School Board on financial and budget matters.

Prepare and manage the school’s annual budget to support the CEO’s key academic initiatives and all necessary support and operations.

Supervise fiscal operations of the school using standard accounting principles and procedures in accordance with GAAP, board policies, rules and regulations.

Participate in the development of long-range financial and strategic plans.

Direct the budgeting, accounting and reporting of all school funds in compliance with federal, state, and local authorizer regulations.

Oversee school purchasing, ensuring compliance with board and internal policies.

Manage the school’s investments and secure the annual audit of the school’s finances.

Enforce and promote a framework of internal controls to safeguard financial assets.

Supervise grant expenditures and accounting processes to meet compliance and reporting requirements.

Monitor and align financial resources to meet the school’s changing needs.

Prepare budget transfers to cover unanticipated expenditures in accordance with Board policies and state restrictions.

Supervise preparation and transmission of periodic financial reports to appropriate federal, state and authorizer authorities.

Acts as an authorized fiscal representative, approving expenditures within board policies.

Develop a collaborative team atmosphere.

Support and advise GOAL leadership in financial decision-making and budget preparation.

Present relevant financial data to the GOAL Board of Directors and affiliates in a timely manner.

Ensure the continued financial viability of GOAL Academy through sound fiscal management

Create, implement, and manage strong financial policies, processes, and procedures

Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts

Utilize data and predictive analytics to forecast financial trends, identify potential risks, and develop proactive strategies.

Support creative projects and initiatives proposed by leadership and staff, encouraging a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree and training from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or related field required.

MBA, CPA preferred

Proficient in technology, especially financial software and Excel.

Experience:

Minimum of ten years’ experience in business administration and operations.

Minimum of seven years’ preparing and managing multi-million dollar budgets.

Minimum of five years’ experience in supervision/leadership.

School finance experience preferred.

Excellent leadership and organizational skills.

Deep technical background in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Experience working with at risk youth preferred
