Rural School Leader Cohort

Thank you to those who could hop on the Rural Leader Learning Community this morning! We had an excellent discussion on leader/board relationships.

The slide deck, templates, and tools have been uploaded to the documents tab on the learning community website.

The group discussed how a board's strategic plan should guide the board's annual goals AND the goals of the school leader.

Consider looking at strategic plan goals, annual board goals, and annual leader goals in a sequential manner like this:

- Strategic Goal/Priority: Goal 4.1: At Sample School, we maintain physical environments, facilities and services that provide safety and contribute to instructional excellence and enriching student experiences.
- Annual Board Goal: By the end of the 2023/2024 school year, the board will contract with an outside provider to execute a comprehensive facilities plan to support the board in long-term facilities planning.
- Annual School Leader Goal: Collaborate on the creation of a facilities/grounds master plan through the Facilities Committee. Action steps: Coordinate with facilities and technology committees to include stakeholder involvement; Create RFP, review proposals, and hire firm; Assist committee in bringing the recommendations to the board.
