Position Summary:

Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver is seeking a dedicated and organized Substitute Teacher Coordinator/Floating Substitute to join our team. The Substitute Teacher Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that classrooms are staffed with qualified substitute teachers in the absence of regular teaching staff. This role is critical in maintaining the continuity of instruction and upholding the educational standards of our classical education model.


Essential Functions:

Recruitment and Selection:

Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract qualified substitute teachers.

Screen, interview, and evaluate potential substitute teachers.

Maintain a pool of qualified substitute teachers to ensure adequate coverage.

Fill the Substitute position as needed throughout the school day


Scheduling and Coordination:

Manage the daily scheduling of substitute teachers for all grades and subjects.

Communicate with substitute teachers regarding assignments and school policies.

Coordinate with school staff to ensure that lesson plans and materials are available for substitutes.


Training and Support:

Provide orientation and training for new substitute teachers on school procedures and expectations.

Offer ongoing support and feedback to substitute teachers to enhance their performance.

Address any issues that arise during substitute teaching assignments.


Administration:

Maintain accurate records of substitute teacher assignments and attendance.

Prepare and process payroll for substitute teachers.

Develop and update substitute teacher handbooks and resources.


Floating Substitute Role:

Follow lesson plans to teach and supervise classes as needed on a daily basis

Respond promptly to teacher requests for a substitute teacher

Coordinate other substitute teachers for additional absences based on greater needs, utilizing our substitute teacher platform

Communicate with teachers by leaving notes for them on the day's events, progress, or challenges, including substitute teacher binders and lesson plan needs


Communication:

Serve as the primary point of contact for substitute teachers, staff, and administration regarding substitute teaching needs.

Ensure effective communication between substitute teachers and regular staff to support student learning.


Position Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in education, or a related field is preferred.

Experience in a school setting or educational coordination role is highly desirable.

Willingness to perform other related duties as assigned


Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds

Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust one's tone and height by bending or leaning in order to teach each child

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, or standing to teach

Must be able to supervise outdoors.
