Organization purpose
Montessori del Mundo (MdM) is a public Dual Language Montessori charter school in Aurora CO. MdM follows the Montessori philosophy and curriculum and uses a research-based dual language model with the goal of bilingualism and biliteracy for all students. Academic instruction is in both Spanish and English to prepare students for the future bilingual world.
Accountabilities and Expectations
Providing crisis intervention, short-term counseling, group counseling, and development
Providing Tier 2 social-emotional support to children in preschool - 8th grade by guiding small groups, working with students one-on-one, and mediating conflicts between students
Providing social-emotional and social justice classes to all students in kindergarten to 8th grade
Embedding Conscious Discipline Philosophy and strategies in all services and interactions with students, parents, and staff
Supporting teachers with de-escalation strategies and strategies for developing a positive classroom culture
De-escalating children with severe behaviors and supervising consequences when students are outside the classroom
Pushing into classrooms and providing social-emotional assistance to teachers and students
Regularly surveying teachers and other relevant staff to determine school-wide, classroom-level, and individual student support needs
Collaborating with grade-level coordinators to create and implement school-wide connection activities such as assemblies, spirit days, kindness week, etc
Promoting justice, equity, and inclusion throughout the community
Investing in families by building and maintaining positive relationships with parents
Supervising and ensuring student safety
Submitting student progress reports and other required paperwork on time
Supporting operations with regularly scheduled morning, midday, and/or dismissal duties
Providing a spirit of hospitality at school gatherings, public events, and family engagement activities
Qualifications/Individual Education and Experience
Required:
Master’s Degree in School Counseling, or other related discipline such as school psychology or school social work
Colorado special service provider license or currently eligible for one with the appropriate endorsement for this position; School Counselor
Native or native-like fluency in Spanish AND English, ability to provide instruction, communicate with parents and participate in staff meetings in both languages
Certification in Conscious Discipline or willingness to complete training within 4 months of hire date
CPI Blue Card or willingness to attend the first available training
Preferred:
2+ years of experience working in an elementary Montessori or and/or a dual language program
Previous experience working in a charter school
Previous experience working with at-risk children

Working conditions
This position will require the employee to move about the classroom and building regularly including climbing stairs, getting up and down from the floor, walking on uneven surfaces (playground) and may involve sitting or standing for extended periods. There are occasions when you may be required to be outside for a short period in inclement weather. This position requires some flexibility to attend occasional events on evenings and/or weekends throughout the year in support of the community.
Physical requirements
This position will require sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and occasional climbing on stools. Candidates must be able to navigate stairs and lift up to 20 lbs.

Salary
The full-time starting salary range for this position is $53,750 - $73,750 annually, depending on education and experience.
