Job Title: Lower Grammar School Teacher (Kindergarten)
Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver (ACAND)
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Dean of Grammar School
Work Hours/Days: 190 day school year calendar, typically 7:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Desired Start Date: August 2025, with required attendance at teacher training conference in Hillsdale, MI, in June of 2025
Salary Range: $45,000-$52,000 annually, depending on experience and education

Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver is hiring Grammar School teachers for the 2025-2026 school year. Our teachers model good character, teach phonics-based literacy, Singapore math, classic children's stories, and the great ideas and works of history and science.
ACAND is a growing school, offering grades K-9 for the 2025-26 school year with plans to expand to K-12 by adding one grade per year. We seek teachers with high standards of excellence, a professional demeanor, warm rapport, clear communication with parents, and a can-do attitude to join our team. The ideal candidate will be organized, diligent, and devoted to helping students grow in wisdom and virtue.
Essential Functions:
Prepare unit and lesson plans following Hillsdale K12 curriculum guidelines for each year
Teach and mentor students, utilizing classical pedagogy methods
Assign, collect, grade and return graded work in a timely manner
Proctor tests on the annual testing cycle (beginning of year, middle of year, end of year)
Monitor student progress and self-evaluate how best to support effective student learning
Identify struggling or advanced students to provide additional support or academic extensions
Collaborate with Students Services to meet requirements of SPED plans, such as IEPs, 504s, and others
Communicate regularly, usually weekly, with parents
Assist in daily operations of the school (e.g., taking attendance, supervising student arrivals, passing periods in hallways, lunchtime and recess supervision) on a shared schedule
Participate in professional development as offered by ACAND and Hillsdale College's K12 Office
Maintain confidentiality in student records
Promote a collegial, professional relationship with students, parents, and colleagues as a partner in the community of learners
Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations.

Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 36 credit hours in Early Childhood Education (Colorado Teaching license is NOT required)
Commitment to the mission and vision and policies of Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver
Commitment to high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-government
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
Creative problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
Must be able to traverse classroom
Must be able to supervise outdoor recess periods for up to 25 minutes outdoors
