About Heritage Heights Academy

Opening with grades K-5 in its first year, HHA will add grades 6, 7 and 8 in later years. The vision of Heritage Heights Academy is to develop successful scholars, critical thinkers, and lifelong learners acquired from a Core Knowledge education. Heritage Heights Academy students will thrive as contributing members of our local and global community. The mission of Heritage Heights Academy is to provide an educational choice that challenges all learners to achieve individual academic success, develop a strong character, and learn to be contributing citizens. Heritage Heights Academy is dedicated to developing meaningful partnerships between parents, teachers, and the community to ensure the success of all students. HHA is modeled after the successful Liberty Common School (LCS) in Fort Collins, CO, Heritage Heights Academy will adopt the Core Knowledge curriculum. The Core Knowledge curriculum will be aligned to the Colorado Academic Standards. Core Knowledge is a research-based, teacher-tested, course scope and sequence. The Core Knowledge Sequence presents a detailed outline of grade-by-grade content to be taught, but leaves the specifics of how to teach open to the creativity and expectations of the individual schools. Music and visual arts are an important part of the curriculum, with topics that connect with content being discussed in the regular classroom, to reinforce concepts, vocabulary and skills. Heritage Heights Academy will implement the full Core Knowledge Sequence, ensuring the most complete academic experience for the students. In most cases, the Core Knowledge Sequence aligns with the Colorado Academic Standards in which the English Language Arts and Mathematics Standards are aligned with the Common Core Standards, and supports the progressive development of skills across grade levels. HHA will have an anti-discriminatory open admissions policy and initially open its doors to any and all students qualifying to attend a traditional public school. In grades K-5, HHA will have a ratio of 25 students to 1 teacher. In grades 6-8, HHA will have a ratio of 30 students to 1 teacher
