Leading Effective Leaders - Meeting Recording

Hello Board Chairs,

We had a very small group in attendance for last month's meeting - due to the proximity to winter break, I imagine.

I recorded the content of "Leading Effective Leaders" as a mini-webinar. It is about 15 minutes long. Watch it here: https://us02web.zoom.us/rec/share/_ke87OxbjeTb-WhpeIznnyz-UdYivUVHoNACEUMZuJDj6QeDTVtLzOJvloiQMmLE.deRttpuDM_F3YODX?startTime=1736443652000
Passcode: *ZML=l0w

Also, please visit the "Documents" section of the group's page. Here, you will find the resources referenced, including evaluation timelines, evaluation templates, and a performance improvement plan template.

This training scratches the surface on the topic of leading your school's executive leader.

A strong, collaborative relationship between charter school boards and their school leaders is vital for creating a successful school environment, fostering innovation, and achieving the school’s mission of serving its students and community effectively. Here are several reasons why support is important:

1. Fostering Effective Leadership - School leaders are at the forefront of implementing the school's mission, vision, and strategic goals. Board support ensures they have the resources, guidance, and authority to lead effectively.

2. Promoting Stability - Consistent and strong backing from the board helps reduce leader turnover, which can disrupt the school’s progress and erode trust among staff, students, and families.

3. Encouraging Innovation - Board support empowers leaders to take calculated risks, explore new ideas, and implement creative solutions to improve student outcomes.

4. Providing Accountability and Oversight - While boards hold school leaders accountable, mutual respect and support create a productive partnership that balances oversight with empowerment.

5. Boosting Morale - School leadership is a demanding job. When boards offer encouragement, recognition, and support, it boosts morale and helps leaders stay motivated and focused.

IN THE DISCUSSION THREAD, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW YOUR BOARD SUPPORTS YOUR SCHOOL LEADER.

If you have any questions or need additional support, please feel free to contact me at [email protected].

In partnership,
Kia
