Position Overview
PRA is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Secondary Special Education Learning Specialist to support our middle and high school students with exceptional needs. This educator will be responsible for delivering targeted instruction, developing and managing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborating with general education teachers, and supporting a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
The position is flexible between part-time and full-time, depending on candidate availability and student needs.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct instruction to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), using evidence-based strategies tailored to varied learning styles.
Develop, write, implement, and manage IEPs in compliance with federal and state regulations.
Prepare and conduct IEP meetings with parents, staff, and service providers.
Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instruction to meet student needs.
Conduct regular assessments, progress monitoring, and data analysis to inform instruction and services.
Participate in RtI (Response to Intervention) meetings and contribute to intervention planning and progress tracking.
Guide and support colleagues in differentiating instruction and implementing accommodations and modifications.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with school, district, and state guidelines.
Communicate regularly with students, families, and team members to ensure clarity, support, and partnership.
Contribute to school-wide efforts including club sponsorship, coaching, and committee involvement.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Special Education preferred.
Valid Colorado Teaching License with appropriate SPED endorsement.
Meets requirements under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
Experience working with secondary students and a deep understanding of diverse learning needs.
Knowledge of Core Knowledge curriculum is a plus.
Experience with character education and positive behavior systems is highly desirable.

Work Conditions

This position reports to the School Principals.
