Responsibilities:
- Teach phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency skills
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of learners and work alongside classroom teachers to support differentiation in the classroom
- Knowledge of the READ Act and ability to fulfill requirements
- Work with READ Plan students to provide effective reading interventions
- Administer and oversee the Acadience assessment and progress monitoring across a body of evidence for students on given caseload
- Effectively diagnose student literacy deficiencies
- Implement strong literacy training and experience in the application of best practices in early/emergent reading strategies.
- Communicate proactively with other staff, students, and parents
- Creates positive relationships with other Legacy Academy staff and lives out the social contract created by staff.
- Models professional and ethical standards when interacting with students, staff, community, and parents.
- Arrives on time prepared for each workday, including days with students, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development days.
Title: Reading Specialist
At-will Agreement: Full-time position - 185 days
Reports To: Principal and Elementary Assistant Principal
Salary: $50K - $70K Based on experience, qualifications, and alignment with Legacy Academy’s mission, vision, and philosophy.

Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred
- Reading specialist certification, or willing to obtain
- 5 years of teaching experience
- Possess strong content knowledge and instructional skills
- Passion to see students excel in reading
- Tech skills to operate basic computer programs
- Enjoy working with students
