Interim K8 Assistant Principal

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Academic Leadership:
- Supervise operations in the Principal's absence.
- Contribute and participate as a member of the Lead Team.
- Maintain and reinforce the school's classroom discipline procedures.
- Support curriculum implementation.
- Participate in implementing the Strategic Plan and School Improvement Plan.
- Help the K8 Principal develop, collect, and use school-wide data to track students' academic progress, instructional development, and school climate data.
- In coordination with other principals and the K-12 assessment coordinator, develop a testing schedule and Assessment Calendar for school and state assessments.
- Assist in the productive use of the K-12 EduClimber System for data housing and analysis.
- Communicate with stakeholders about the use of assessment and monitoring tools, such as EduClimber and IC.
- Serve on subcommittees as needed.
- Articulate the school's K-12 mission and vision to the community.
Staff:
- Conduct informal observations of staff performance as needed.
- Support the development and distribution of weekly communication to staff.
- Assist the K8 Principal in determining and implementing appropriate staff development.
- Support oversight, training, and monitoring of the Paraprofessional staff.
- Mentor assigned teachers for improvement and use coaching techniques to assist in problem-solving and developing goals as needed.
- Support the development of innovative instructional skills through modeling, peer coaching, and staff development as needed.
- May provide oversight of specific staff and programs as needed.
Students:
- Ensure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods.
- Maintain and reinforce the school's discipline procedures, including conducting investigations, communicating with parents, and holding students to restorative practices.
- Communicate and hold conferences with parents, students, and teachers on student and school issues, in coordination with the K8 Principal.
- Promote a positive, safe, and caring environment that supports student learning.
- Help create/maintain partnerships within the school community; deal effectively with diverse staff and the parent/student population; and solve conflicts.

K-12 Responsibilities
As full-time, salaried employees, you are expected to contribute to our organization's success outside of the school day. This may include:
- Sponsoring a Club or Coaching a Team (both may include a stipend)
- Serving on Committees or Task Forces (minimum once a month)
- Your involvement enhances our community and supports our mission, making it vital to our collective success.
Education and Related Work Experience
- Master's Degree in Education required.
- Certified or Eligible for Principal License.
- A minimum of three years of teaching experience is required.
- Leadership experience in a school setting is required.
- Demonstrated experience in instructing students with varied learning styles and levels of mastery.
- Expert-level written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, conflict management skills, problem-solving skills, and demonstrated leadership abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively and to apply superb judgment.
Skills and Abilities
- Read, write, and interpret documents such as rules, policies and expectations, agreements, rubrics, scope and sequence documents, and assessments.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of staff, students, Board of Directors, Administrators, and parents.
- Ability to apply an entrepreneurial outlook and a charter school commitment.
- Understand and carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate different tasks.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and to be self-motivated.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- The required vision abilities include close vision, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
- Work is occasionally performed outside, exposed to extreme temperatures and loud noises.
- Work hours may occasionally be extended.
