Duties and Responsibilities
Academic Leadership
- Serves as an academic leader for the K-8 school community
- Develop and implement the K-8 school curriculum, instruction, and assessment in a manner consistent with PRA's vision and mission
- Provide instructional leadership in advancing proven teaching and learning practices and implementing the Core Knowledge sequence
- Develop a professional development program, in conjunction with the other administrators, to meet the needs of all staff.
- Set standards for student achievement, observe instruction regularly, and monitor student growth and achievement.
- Supervise and evaluate staff, not only for the K-8 school level but also for shared staff, to ensure quality instruction and student achievement.
- Ensure a safe and orderly environment.
Culture & Climate Leadership
- Establish a positive school culture and climate at both the elementary and middle school, focused on student engagement, with embedded support structures that are successful and sustainable over time.
- Implement the school safety and crisis plan with the School leadership team and Mental Health Staff.
- Work with the other administrators to ensure consistent discipline policies and character education throughout the school.
- Reinforce the K-8 character education program.
Community Leadership
- Provide leadership, direction, and support with excellent customer service to the PRA families and potential PRA families.
- Ensure compliance with policies established by the Prospect Ridge Academy Board of Directors, Adams 12 School District, and Colorado State-mandated school guidelines, except where PRA has received waivers
- Serve as the hiring manager of search committee(s)
- Guide & participate in the student recruitment and enrollment process
K-12 Campus Development
- Establish and maintain a close working relationship with the PRA Board of Directors.
- Establish and maintain a close working relationship with the Executive Director and other Administrators.
- Work with the Administration and the School Accountability Committee to complete and present the annual school progress report to staff, students, families, the board, and the community.
Professional Responsibilities
- Seeks professional development opportunities; feedback on administrative and management strategies
- Promotes a collegial and collaborative environment by sharing resources and contributing to the school community, supporting PRA's mission and vision
- Actively supports the school's character and equity efforts by intentionally integrating into daily practice the universal core values
- Exhibits professional attitudes toward students, other educators, parents, and community members; projects a professional image in communication and appearance
- Seeks out assistance before experiencing a crisis; balances workload; establishes appropriate boundaries.
- Other duties as necessary.
K-12 Responsibilities
As full-time, salaried employees, you are expected to contribute to our organization's success outside of the school day. This may include:
- Sponsoring a Club or Coaching a Team (both may include a stipend)
- Serving on Committees or Task Forces (minimum once a month)
Your involvement enhances our community and supports our mission, making it vital to our collective success.
Education and Related Work Experience
- Master's Degree in Education required.
- Certified or eligible for Principal License.
- Three (3) years of appropriate administrative experience at the K8 level.
- Five (5) years of appropriate teaching experience at the K8 level.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a school setting.
- Demonstrated experience in the instruction of students with varied learning styles and levels of mastery.
- Expert-level written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, conflict management skills, problem-solving skills, and demonstrated leadership abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively and to apply superb judgment.
- Prior experience with Core Knowledge is preferred.
- Prior experience in a charter school preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Read, write, and interpret documents such as rules, policy and expectation, agreements, rubrics, scope and sequence documents, and assessments.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of staff, students, Board of Directors, Administrators, and parents.
- Ability to understand and carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to apply an entrepreneurial outlook and a charter school commitment.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate different tasks.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and to be self-motivated.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Vision abilities required include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work is occasionally performed outside with exposure to extreme temperatures and loud noises.
- Work hours may occasionally be extended.

Reporting Relationship
This position reports to the Executive Director.
Direct Reports: The Elementary Assistant Principal, Middle School Assistant Principal, and assigned certified and classified staff members.

Salary Hiring Range: Depending on the start date, the position would be 10 or 11 months, with a salary range of $108,573 - $132,162
