Position Summary

The Instructional Assistant supports teachers by working with students in small or large groups, handling clerical tasks, and assisting with daily classroom and school functions. This role requires flexibility, initiative, and the ability to build positive community relationships. Professionals in this position are expected to go beyond the job description to contribute meaningfully to a positive school environment and successful student outcomes.


Typical Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers with large and small group instruction

  • Supervise students in lunchrooms, playgrounds, carpool, and other school settings

  • Perform clerical tasks such as producing documents and correspondence

  • Assist in grading student work

  • Help mediate student conflicts

  • Support the creation of materials for educational displays and bulletin boards

  • Administer minor first aid

  • Help coordinate and schedule school activities

  • Maintain workroom equipment

  • Serve on school-related committees

  • Perform other duties as assigned


Skills & Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication in English

  • Ability to comprehend written, graphic, and oral instructions

  • Basic computer proficiency and general office equipment knowledge

  • Understanding of child development

Environmental & Physical Demands

  • Clean and comfortable environment

  • Occasional lifting of 5 to 50 lbs

  • Frequent bending, standing, walking, squatting, reaching, and sitting


Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)

  • First Aid/CPR certification (preferred)


Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly wage starting at $18.25 (dependent on experience)
