K-12 Teacher, CLDE: Multilingual Learner Support

The Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE) Teacher will lead the identification, monitoring and redesignation processes for all students identified as multilingual learners (MLLs) at Peak to Peak. This staff member will collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement effective language instruction. Additionally, they will provide targeted English Language Development (ELD) instruction for identified students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Knowledge & Compliance:
- Deep understanding of federal and state regulations regarding equitable participation for multilingual learners.
- Proficiency in school-level obligations for MLLs, including identification, assessment, placement, monitoring, and exiting processes.
Program Development:
- Support a vision for CLDE based on purpose and need specific to Peak to Peak students; establish goals for program implementation and identify success criteria
- Ability to design, develop, and implement an effective program model that meets the diverse needs of multilingual learners.
- Strong foundational knowledge of WIDA Standards and ACCESS testing.
- Plan and teach ELD classes
- Research, teach, and model best practices used to address the needs of multilingual learners
- Ability to assess students' language needs and determine their language proficiency.
- Knowledge of evidence-based English Language Development programs that effectively support English learners.
- Commitment to inclusive practices for language learners.
Collaboration & Professionalism:
- Communicate regularly and consistently with K-12 administration, general education teachers, counselors, learning services teachers and parents/guardians about student growth and achievement
- Provide classroom support by coaching general education classroom teachers, providing immediate modeling and feedback of instructional practices for multilingual learners as needed
- Ability to collaborate with teachers to make student-centered decisions.
- Capacity to build strong professional relationships to achieve organizational goals.
- Sophisticated understanding of teaching and learning best practices.
- In collaboration with the school principals, ensure appropriate resource allocation and utilization within the CLDE progrom
Instruction & Assessment:
- Design and implement instructional plans aligned with the Colorado Academic Standards that are purposeful, engaging, and differentiated to meet student needs.
- Conduct formative assessments to guide instruction and support student progress.
- Lead the progress monitoring and redesignation process for all students who receive services.
- Participate in parent/teacher conferences in order to share progress and assessment updates
- Using VizLab workbooks and P2P-specific data warehouses
- Create and leverage current data collection tools, universal screeners, progress monitors, intervention tracking, and other performance measures
- Create and maintain individual student profiles reflecting growth and achievement
- Update and review student progress paperwork and learning plans in compliance with school, district, and legal procedures and guidelines
Other Responsibilities:
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Desired Skills:
- B.A. or B.S. college degree required
- Masters degree preferred
- Current Colorado Teacher License and CLDE Endorsement preferred
- Classroom teaching experience and/or prior CLDE experience strongly preferred
- 45 clock hours or 3 semester hours of professional development in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse education
- Demonstrated skills to serve multilingual learners
- Strong organizational and coordination skills
- Ability to assess grade level needs and plan and organize accordingly
- Demonstrated experience in effectively solving challenging problems through a positive, collaborative approach.
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills are required
- Proficient with a variety of computer programs, including Google Suite & other technology to support learning
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Strong self-starter; able to work with limited direction
- Ability to assess grade level needs and plan and organize accordingly.
- Ability to apply superb judgment in a timely manner
