Interim Principal
Montessori Peaks Academy
Montessori Peaks Academy (MPA), Jefferson County's first Montessori charter school, is seeking an experienced Interim Principal to lead our PK–8th grade community through the summer and into the start of the 2026–27 school year. Founded in 1997 and now serving students across two buildings on a campus covering 8.5 acres, MPA is rooted in authentic Montessori philosophy and the education of the whole child. As our Board conducts a full search for our next permanent leader, we need a steady, capable hand to keep our school running smoothly, support our staff and families, and ensure strong, stable leadership during our transitionary period.
This is a hands-on leadership role with full operational responsibility for the day-to-day life of the school. The Interim Principal will oversee summer operations and back-to-school preparations, support and supervise teaching and classified staff, manage enrollment and the smooth start of classes, uphold the school's policies and charter obligations, and serve as the primary point of contact for our students, families, and community. Working in close partnership with the Board of Directors, the Interim Principal will help maintain continuity of our mission and culture during this transition and set up the incoming permanent principal for success. We anticipate this engagement lasting at least six months, with the possibility of extension until the permanent leader is in place.
We are looking for a seasoned school leader who can step in quickly and lead with confidence and care. The ideal candidate brings prior experience as a principal or senior school administrator, strong skills in staff support and operational management, and a genuine commitment to Montessori education and the whole child. A master's degree in education and a Colorado Principal's License (or equivalent, with a commitment to Colorado licensure) are preferred. Above all, we seek someone who shares our core values of kindness, integrity, respect, and safety, and who will keep students and teachers at the heart of every decision. This is an at-will, employed position reporting to the MPA Board of Directors; compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. To apply or learn more, please contact us at 303.529.4001 or submit a cover letter and resume for the Board's consideration.
Salary: $8,000 - $10,000 /month
