PINNACLE CHARTER SCHOOL IN THORNTON ANNOUNCES THE RECEIPT OF GRANTS

Local Title I School Receives Grants to Help Increase the Safety & Security of the School Campus & Improve the Building

Thornton, Colo., May 23, 2024 – Pinnacle Charter School is a K-12 Title 1 school located in Federal Heights, and as an urban, Title 1 school, Pinnacle prioritizes the safety and well-being of their students and community above all else.

“Safety is paramount to our school and community, and many of our families choose The Pinnacle because it is such a safe learning environment for their kids,” says Pinnacle CEO Chad Miller.  “We are continually upgrading safety and security to ensure that our campus is as safe and secure as possible.”

Pinnacle recently applied for and received a Safety and Security grant for approximately $200,000 that will be applied directly to helping ensure that students are as safe as possible, and able to be fully engaged in learning.  Pinnacle Charter School has also been shortlisted for the BEST grant. The State Board of Education will provide final approval and the award letter in June 2024 for this funding, which will allow the Pinnacle to complete several facilities projects over the next 3 years to ensure students are learning in the best and safest environment.

“Pinnacle successes are grounded in creating a stable environment,” says Miller.  “When the basic needs for safety, nutrition and inclusion are satisfied, students are able to inhabit the space of learning.  This is our biggest goal for each and every student; to feel safe and secure at school, and allow for growth and learning.  Grants like this help us achieve these goals.”

Both grants will provide Pinnacle with the opportunity to upgrade the HVAC systems, update the roof systems, install a secure vestibule system in the new arts building and update the security in all of the existing buildings.

“The success of academic programming at Pinnacle Charter School is evidenced in the 300 students who have pursued concurrent enrollment this year with a 90% pass rate, the issuance of 82 industry certifications in 2023 leading to successful employment, and the extraordinary High School graduation rate of 97%, ten points higher than the Colorado state average,” says Miller.  “We are very proud to be recognized by receiving these grants, and also excited to be able to provide our students with even greater support in the coming years with these funds.”

Michelle Fisher of MFisher Collaborative Works assisted with the writing of the grants, and is thrilled to see the success of these efforts, and how they will support the Pinnacle.

“The alignment of the team at Pinnacle really was integral to the success of this grant,” says Fisher.  “I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with the Pinnacle team, and I’m excited for the improvements that will be made to the Pinnacle that will help the students thrive in a safe and secure learning environment in the years to come.”
