Job Title: School Occupational Therapist
Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction-(ACAGJ)
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Dean of Student Services
Work Hours/Days: 8-12 hours per week during school hours; additional participation in some training events also required
Compensation Range: $45-60 hourly

Position Overview:

We are looking for a School Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our Student Services department. As a member of the department for a new and growing classical charter school, the OT will have a strong background in best practices for school occupational therapy, including an understanding of IEP tracking and reporting requirements.

This is an onsite position based in our school.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Masters Degree or higher
  • Current Colorado licensure with appropriate endorsement for Occupational Therapy (see Colorado Department of Education requirements)
  • Commitment to classical education and to the high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-government
  • Ability to develop positive and professional relationships with team members
  • Adherence to all ACAGJ policies

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct occupational therapy assessments and interpret results to support student learning
  • Participate in IEP meetings, MTSS meetings, and other staff or department meetings as needed
  • Provide direct and consultative therapeutic services to students in individual or group settings, per IEP requirements.
  • Create goals and objectives for students to work toward and identify areas of progress and challenges. 
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to design and implement appropriate interventions and accommodations for students.
  • Maintain student records and submit information/records, including student progress, as needed to support students and adhere to IEP regulations.
  • Maintain academic integrity and mission alignment in modifications and accommodations for students in specialized programming
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to relevant health and safety procedures
  • Complete all required training and provide documentation as well as official college transcripts within 90 days of hire date
  • Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations
  • Demonstrate proficiency in both written and spoken English to effectively perform their job responsibilities and communicate in the workplace
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
  • Must be able to traverse the classroom and the school
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer
  • Must be able to supervise outdoor duties
