Mountain Phoenix Community School is accepting applications for Early Childhood Substitute (Guest) Teachers for the 2026-27 school year. 

Mountain Phoenix Community school is accepting applications for full and part-time assistants as well as permanent substitute teachers for our Early Childhood Program. We delight in working with head, heart and hands in a developmentally appropriate manner which honors the unique unfolding of every child. Our days are spent wondering at the marvels of nature, working and playing to our hearts content and joyfully partaking in the mysteries of life. In our Early Childhood program, there are no desks or worksheets, just a homey, family-like environment, where we seek to nurture the young child. Current Position Expectations

  • Work with children 3 to 6 years old 
  • Provide a warm and nurturing environment in the classroom you are working in
  • Help supervise the children when they are in your care, help oversee the children in their work and step in if the Lead Teacher needs support
  • Always model a positive attitude and help redirect positive behavior when being asked. 
  • All candidates must be warm, nurturing, kind, enthusiastic, patient, and creative
  • Experience with the Waldorf method is preferred, but not required
  • The compensation will be based on education and experience

A Colorado teaching license and Waldorf teacher training or certifications are highly desired. All employees of the school will be employed on an at-will basis and will meet fingerprinting and background check requirements. All Teachers will meet the “in-field” guidelines set forth in the Colorado state ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) plan, by meeting at least one of the following requirements (1) endorsement on a Colorado teaching license; (2) holding at least a BA or higher in the relevant subject area; (3) holding at least a BA in any content area and completion of 36 semester credit hours in the subject matter in which s/he/they teach(es); or (4) holding at least a BA in any content area and passing a State Board approved content exam in the relevant subject area. The school recognizes the value of state teacher certification and will encourage teachers to pursue their license.
