    DATE: Wednesday, January 14, 2026
    TIME: 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. MT

    AGENDA
We will have two presentations and discussions as well as an update from NAPCS.

#1: PRESENTATION and Discussion - What is in a Name?

Andrea Zayas, Chief of Engagement and Partnerships, National Alliance for Public Charter Schools (NAPCS)

Andrea will share the message research conducted by Echelon Insights that provides framing and language to describe what we have been calling “religious charter schools” as we continue to see schools apply to operate and litigation being filed all in the anticipation that a case will make its way to the Supreme Court in the next few years. Hear how we came to the recommendation of “faith-based partnership schools” and discuss how the charter school sector might leverage this language moving forward.

#2: PRESENTATION and Discussion - Hard Truths, Better Outcomes: Messaging School Closure with Clarity and Care

Courtney Hughley, Vice President Communications, National Association of Charter School Authorizers (NACSA)

We know that schools across the country will need to consolidate, merge and/or close whether from academic performance, declining enrollment or other budgetary pressures. But how to talk about that is definitely a challenge. In spring 2025, the NACSA team engaged Echelon Insights to conduct a message research project to address this issue and Courtney will share the evidence-based messaging that can equip decision makers – authorizers, advocates, board members, school district leaders, philanthropic partners - to talk more compellingly about the need to close and/or consolidate schools.

#3: UPDATE - National Alliance for Public Charter Schools

    - Details about federal charter school legislation moving through Congress and appropriations progress.
    - National School Choice Week and any activities organizations are planning and amplification opportunities.
    - Story Mining – Black History Month and CTE/career pathways and other plans organizations have for February 2026 story telling.
