About Compass Community Collaborative School

Compass Community Collaborative School (CCC) has an approved charter authorizing the opening of a 6-12th grade public charter school in the Poudre R-1 School District in August of 2018. We employ entrepreneurial mindsets and use community-engaged venture projects to inspire deep learning of academic, social-emotional, and essential skills. We will be the first school in Fort Collins to offer a fully transdisciplinary, community-engaged curriculum with multi-age student project teams and a flexible school day schedule that promotes community collaboration inside and outside of our school building. We are embedding secondary education into real-world problem solving and meaningful work. Our innovative and research-based school model was designed by a diverse team of educators, students, parents, artists, and community leaders in an entrepreneurial business incubator. Leaving behind the well-worn paths of schools designed to study individual academic disciplines at levels determined by age group, we are creating a school that is student-centered and community-engaged. We are not just in the business of information and curriculum delivery; we are nurturing the development of intellectual intelligence (IQ), emotional intelligence (EQ), creativity (CrQ) and curiosity (CuQ) in our students and their families. We are preparing students with the academic and social skills to be future ready in a rapidly changing world. Compass Community Collaborative School is doing more than answering the often-repeated classroom question: why do we have to learn this? , it is helping students to discover learning with purpose; to author the best possible story of their lives and of our collective future. We are enrolling up to 170 students in grades 6-10 for the 2018/19 school year and will grow to up to 400 students over the next five years. Our first graduating class will be in May of 2021.
