Develop the skills to conduct prompt, impartial, and thorough Title IX investigations— from evidence collection to final reports—using the 2020 Regulations as your foundation.
As the federal court judge struck down the 2024 Title IX regulations in their entirety, this means we will revert back to 2020 Title IX regulations, but any procedural aspects of the 2024 regulations may be implemented for better practice and mitigation. However, the definitions and substantive changes noted in 2024 no longer apply. In the meantime, the most significant 2024 changes that no longer apply are the definitions of what constitutes “sex”. These will no longer apply as a result of January's 2025 decision.
This training highlights the latest Department of Education and court guidance regarding conducting effective Title IX investigations in K-12 educational organizations. The training highlights emerging issues around complaints involving sexual misconduct and protections for sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. Intended to provide annual recurrent training for Title IX Investigators, this program is also ideal for Title IX Coordinators.
A school’s prompt response to sexual harassment complaints is a critical aspect of an effective Title IX compliance program. Using the 2020 Regulations (the 2024 Final Rule having been repealed), this session provides participants with the skills and tools for conducting prompt, impartial, and thorough Title IX investigations in K-12 settings. From defining and managing scope, conducting interviews, and making credibility assessments, to crafting investigation reports and concluding the process, this course develops your ability to assume the role of an objective factfinder. Ideal for educators and staff tasked with performing investigators and Title IX Coordinators.
