Recognizing Rising Charter Student Leaders in Colorado

What is the Charter Champions advocacy training program?
Charter Champions is a four-month advocacy and leadership training program for  Colorado charter school students in grades nine through twelve. Students will gain hand-on experience, learning how to use their voice to make a difference in their communities and beyond.

Who should participate in the Charter Champions advocacy training program?
This program benefits students who wish to amplify their communication and collaboration skills, earn valuable civic engagement experience and speak up for public charter schools.

Why should a student participate in Charter Champions?
Students will learn how to identify, shape and share their unique story, while gaining hands-on knowledge of the political process and meeting one-on-one with state legislators. Every January, our annual Advocacy Day offers a high-energy and exciting opportunity to gather with the larger charter school community at the state capitol.

How does a student become a Charter Champion?
Nominations for the Class of 2026 will open September 10, 2025. We encourage teachers, coaches and school leaders to shine a light on a deserving charter high school student in their community. 

Please note: All nominators will serve as sponsors to the student(s) they nominate. Nominators must be willing to relay important information and ensure winners can be present at key events, including Advocacy Day.
