Mayor Heather Graham and County Commissioner Miles Lucero Declare Oct. 27 GOAL High School Day
GOAL High School celebrated the grand opening of its newly renovated administration center at 27 Montebello Road in Pueblo on October 27. Students, staff, community leaders, and guests gathered to mark the completion of the renovation and celebrate GOAL’s continued service to students across Colorado.
The renovated facility features a modern look, upgraded technology, and improved workspaces designed to give GOAL staff the tools and environment they need to support students, families, and communities.
The celebration opened with a performance by GOAL High School students who participate in Perfect World Music Group, accompanied by a ceremonial flyover. Guests then toured the renovated facility before gathering for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and remarks from community leaders, including Pueblo Mayor Heather Graham and Pueblo County Commissioner Miles Lucero.
“GOAL High School brings a different perspective for non-traditional students who need more flexibility in order to get their high school diplomas,” Graham said. “We see this as such a need, especially in the Pueblo community. We are very lucky to have GOAL High School housed here in Pueblo.”
Lucero spoke about the importance of providing students with different paths to graduation.
“The most important function that GOAL serves is to offer an alternative to traditional education,” Lucero said.
“We have a lot of students in our community that, for whatever reason, don’t fit into the traditional high school model. So, I think that GOAL offers a huge service to the community because of that unique offering.” He added, “The more educational opportunities we can give to our families and our kids, the stronger we are as a community, and that’s exactly what GOAL does.”
During her remarks, Graham highlighted GOAL’s combination of online learning and in-person support.
“GOAL offers flexible online instruction with face-to-face support in a great environment right here in Pueblo,”
Graham said. “I’m proud to see these hard-working students supported by the committed staff here at GOAL.” Graham also thanked GOAL High School for its continued commitment to student success and the Pueblo community.
A major moment of the celebration came when Graham and Lucero presented a joint City and County proclamation declaring October 27, 2026, as GOAL High School Day in the City and County of Pueblo.
The proclamation recognized GOAL High School’s history as a statewide public charter school founded in 2008 and headquartered in Pueblo. It also recognized the school’s service to communities across Colorado through 40 drop-in centers, more than 100 local employees and approximately 700 team members statewide, and nearly 15,000 graduates since the school’s founding.
GOAL High School staff from across Colorado traveled to Pueblo for the celebration.
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with GOAL for over a decade, and it was very special to be here today, seeing the students socialize and be a part of the ribbon cutting,” said Dustin Sparks, Managing Partner with Charter School Law Group and GOAL High School attorney. “It was a day that’ll be one of the highlights of my career. Seeing the students that GOAL has helped be part of the community has been awesome.”
For GOAL High School Board President Ted Del Duca, the renovated building provides a foundation for the school’s future.
GOAL High School CEO Jill Toussaint reflected on what the celebration and new administration center mean for the school and the people who have been part of its journey.
“Yesterday was incredibly special to me. Seeing so many people who have been part of our journey come together to celebrate this new chapter filled me with pride and gratitude,” Toussaint said. “This building represents so much more than a new space. It represents the people, the perseverance, and the belief in our mission that have brought us to where we are today.”
“Yesterday we celebrated more than a new home. We celebrated our people, our purpose, and the future of GOAL,” Toussaint added.
“We needed this foundation to build to where we’re going to go. We just keep growing,” Del Duca said. “I always get asked, ‘Well, how big does it need to be?’ Well, we don’t know how high it will go. We’re just going to help kids, and this building helps us do that more effectively.”
The grand opening brought together students, staff, local leaders, and community partners to celebrate both a new space and GOAL High School’s continued commitment to helping Colorado students earn their high school diplomas.
GOAL High School extends a special thank you to the Latino Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Heather Graham, and Pueblo County Commissioner Miles Lucero for their time, support, and help in making the grand opening celebration a memorable event for our students, staff, and community.
