Loveland Classical Schools officially opened a new wing on its secondary school on Thursday.
The charter school hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its Academy Campus, 3015 W. 29th St., which serves secondary students.
Parents, students and board members cheered as they cut the ribbon and were immediately able to walk down the halls. The students’ faces showed excitement for their new learning spaces — eight new classrooms and a shared space for innovation and engineering.
Ian Stout, executive director of the school, said the most exciting part was going to be “seeing our students and teachers use these rooms to learn together.”
The project broke ground in October 2023 and was financed by a tax-exempt bond issue, according to a release from the charter school.
“When we added a second campus in 2017, a phased expansion was built into the plan as our student enrollment continued to grow organically,” Stout said in a news release. “This year, with well over 1,000 students enrolled in our program, the extra classrooms and innovation space couldn’t be more welcome.”
The project was managed by NV5 Engineering, and the builder was GTC Construction, according to the release.
Loveland Classical Schools is a tuition-free classical and Core Knowledge public charter school that serves kindergarten through 12th grade in the Thompson School District. Elementary school students attend classes at a second campus, the school’s original site, on 14th Street Southwest.
Classes start on Aug. 27, and the ribbon-cutting kicked off Back to School Night for the middle- and high-school students.
