Facilities Technician

At our school, we believe our physical campus is the canvas upon which our community thrives. We are seeking a skilled and dependable Facilities Technician to join our operations team. In this role, you aren’t just maintaining buildings; you are practicing a vital form of stewardship—ensuring our indoor and outdoor spaces remain safe, clean, functional, and beautiful for our students and faculty.
Key Responsibilities
The role is a blend of technical maintenance, safety compliance, and hands-on labor to ensure a safe learning environment.
- Maintenance & Repairs
- General Trades: Handle interior and exterior repairs involving plumbing, basic electrical, HVAC troubleshooting, and flooring.
- Preventative Maintenance: Use a digital ticketing system to track and execute scheduled maintenance to minimize "deferred maintenance."
- Grounds: Manage snow removal, landscaping, irrigation systems, and playground equipment inspections.
- Safety & Security
- Compliance: Ensure the facility meets all local, state, and federal regulations/certifications.
- Emergency Protocols: Assist with fire drills, tornado drills, and maintain basic knowledge of Standard Response Protocols (SRP).
- Health Safety: Maintain basic certifications in CPR, First Aid, and AED usage.
- Operations & Administration
- Inventory: Order and track maintenance supplies, keeping sheds and storage areas organized.
- Events: Assist with school furniture set-up/tear-down and coordinate facility access for community events.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience in facilities maintenance or trades (plumbing, electrical, or carpentry) is highly preferred.
- Physical Stamina: Must be able to perform manual labor for several hours and lift up to 100 lbs when necessary.
- Tech Savvy: Proficient in Google Suite and digital work-order/ticketing systems.
- Values: Ability to model the school’s core values and work collaboratively with faculty, parents, and students.
- Background: Must pass a standard fingerprinting and background check (required for all school employees).
