Leveraging Local Media to Boost Enrollment Recap + Resources

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our last CONNECT session of the year with Carrie Horn, Founder + Principal of Bold Story Marketing.

Carrie shared practical strategies to help schools strengthen local media relationships and turn everyday school stories into compelling opportunities for visibility and community engagement. Participants learned how proactive media outreach can support enrollment efforts, elevate school reputation, and increase awareness — regardless of school size or marketing budget.

Throughout the session, Carrie walked through approaches for crafting pitches that get noticed, aligning school stories with current events and community conversations, and building stronger connections with local reporters and media outlets. Attendees also gained insight into how schools like GALS have successfully leveraged storytelling and media coverage to amplify their impact.

For those who couldn’t attend, you can view the recording here:

Slides and resources are available in the Documents section.

We hope you’ll join us next school year for more learning and connection through CONNECT!

    Regards,
Kim, Melia + the entire League staff
