Dealing with Facebook/Meta account issues

5280 Recovery High School last admin access to our Facebook page last month (all four staff members who had access lost privileges simultaneously). We have been struggling to get any response from Facebook/Meta to correct it.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, do you have any tips or tricks for us, or do we just need to keep waiting?

Jordyn, that's a hopeful (and helpful!) update. Thanks so much for sharing! 🤞🏼

Thanks so much to Kim for the help! We're still working to regain access, but I actually got to speak to a live human today and am feeling much more hopeful. Jotting down a few tips for anyone who faces a similar experience:
- Like Kim said, you'll have more success going through Meta Business rather than Facebook. If no one currently owns the Meta Business Portfolio/account, you can follow the instructions here to start a Business Manager admin dispute. https://www.facebook.com/business/help/474856681929983
- It sounds like it's easier and faster to get a resolution on a Business Manager admin dispute than on a Page dispute. I assume because that's a direct revenue-generating platform for Facebook.
- Definitely use the Business Help Center to open a support request. Where exactly to do that has changed at least once in the 5 weeks I've been dealing with this, so I can't provide specifics on how. Seems like they shift the options/pathways quite a bit. But just keep exploring! https://www.facebook.com/business-support-home/?source=business_help_center_support
- If you don't get a response the first time, try again every day or every few days. I think this was like 5th or 6th time going through the Meta Business help center for this issue. I'm not sure what magic key unlocked the path to a real person ,but do make sure to include something like "It's difficult to describe my situation. I would prefer to talk to a real person" in the box when prompted to explain your issue. (And again when it asks for additional details.)

We'll see if this story has a happy ending---you can assume no news is good news!

Hi Jordyn - I'm sorry this happened to you; I know it's frustrating and unnerving!

Your page is still live so that tells me it hasn't been unpublished or restricted which is good. If the page is still live but no one has access, Ai tells me it's likely:

- A Business Manager ownership issue (most common, especially since all four lost access at once)
- A Page ownership transfer
- Or a security flag triggered in Meta Business Suite

That's because even if staff were “admins,” the Page may actually be owned by a Meta Business Manager account.

1. Have someone log in to: https://business.facebook.com/settings. Check:
✔️ Does the Page appear under “Accounts → Pages”?
✔️ Is it owned by a Business Manager?
✔️ Is it “Claimed” by another business?

If it is owned by a Business Manager that no one can access, that’s the key issue.

2. Regular “Report a Problem” rarely works. Instead, use the Business Support channel: https://business.facebook.com/help. Scroll down to Contact Support. Select:

✔️ Business Manager
✔️ access issue
✔️ “I can’t access my Page”
✔️ Request chat support (if available)

⚠️ Chat only appears if:
✔️ You’re logged into a Business account
✔️ The account has run ads before
✔️ The account is verified

If no one has run ads before, this may be why support has been inaccessible. If any connected account still exists: Run a $5 ad from the Page to activate ad account support eligibility. Then you can use Business Support chat.

3. Submit a Page Admin Dispute Form This is often the most successful route for schools. Use this form: 👉 https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/1280439701975125

You’ll need:
✔️ A government-issued ID
✔️ Proof of affiliation (school website listing staff name, LinkedIn profile, official email)
✔️ A signed statement on school letterhead
Meta typically asks for:
✔️ Page URL
✔️ Explanation of how access was lost
✔️ Confirmation no one else should have ownership

4. Use Domain Verification (If Applicable). If you control your website domain, this can strengthen the case. Through Meta Business Manager:

✔️ Go to Brand Safety → Domains
✔️ Verify the school’s domain
✔️ Once verified, you can reference this in your support request to demonstrate official ownership.

I hope this helps some; please let us know how you make out.

And if anyone else has run into this issue, we would love to know how you solved it!
