John Adams Academy Headmaster Helps Lead National Literacy Initiative
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — Families considering John Adams Academy – Douglas County can look forward to a school led by an educator who is helping shape the future of reading and writing instruction nationwide.
Founding Headmaster Sarah Kiesewetter recently served as a lead contributor to The Cather Standards, a new model set of English Language Arts standards for grades PreK–12 developed in partnership with the National Association of Scholars and Freedom in Education. The standards are designed to strengthen literacy instruction, build student knowledge, and better prepare students for success in school and beyond.
For local families, this milestone reflects the level of leadership guiding John Adams Academy as it prepares to open its doors.
“Strong schools begin with strong literacy,” said Kiesewetter. “When students learn to read with confidence, think critically, and communicate clearly, they are prepared for every subject and every future opportunity. That is the kind of education we are building at John Adams Academy.”
The Cather Standards emphasize foundational reading skills, meaningful content, clear communication, and academic excellence—priorities that align closely with the mission of John Adams Academy.
Parents often ask what matters most in their child’s education: caring teachers, academic rigor, student engagement, and preparation for the future. School leaders say those priorities remain central as the academy builds its program for Douglas County families.
John Adams Academy – Douglas County is a tuition-free public charter school opening with grades K–8 and is now enrolling for the inaugural school year.
