Program Structure

All sessions are held in person at the Colorado League of Charter Schools and include:

  • 4 in-person convenings
  • 2 Learning Lab school visits- with Kaci Coats, The Collaborative for Exceptional Education 
  • 1:1 coaching
  • Personalized onboarding
Onboarding (May–July)

1:1 Session with Joshua Smith, Galvanized Education

Participants will engage in a personalized onboarding session to establish expectations, review program components, and align the experience to their school context. This session also provides an opportunity to build a relationship with the program facilitator and prepare for the year ahead.

Summer Convening
July 21–24 | Colorado League (In Person)
The first convening builds the foundation for the year by grounding leaders in core leadership frameworks, establishing a strong cohort community, and beginning strategic planning work.
Day 1: Leadership Foundations & Identity (ECSL)
 Build community, understand program expectations, and reflect on leadership values, identity, and emotional intelligence.
Day 2: Culture of Belonging & Achievement (SCOB)
 Examine school culture, equity, and systems, and design values and practices that foster inclusive, high-achieving environments.
Day 3: Instructional Leadership (ILS)
 Define a vision for high-quality instruction and explore strategies to build teacher capacity.
Day 4: Strategic Planning & Goal Setting (SPRM)
 Analyze school data, identify priority areas for improvement, and develop a focused 90-day plan.
Fall Convening
Learning Lab: October 7

Sessions: October 7–9 | Colorado League (In Person)
This convening focuses on translating vision into measurable outcomes and strengthening systems for data-driven leadership.
Day 1: Learning Lab – School Visit
 Observe effective school systems in practice, with a focus on instruction, culture, and leadership moves.
Day 2 (AM): Defining the Destination & Measuring Student Progress (ILS)
 Analyze assessment strategies, including standards alignment and interim and end-of-year measures, to clarify how student progress is defined and measured.
Day 2 (PM): Building Teacher Capacity to Analyze and Respond to Student Data (ILS)
 Develop strategies for collaborative planning and data analysis, and establish progress monitoring systems with clear benchmarks.
Day 3 (AM): Aligning Resources: Operations & Budget (SPRM)
 Strengthen systems that maximize instructional time and align budgeting and operations to academic priorities, including key aspects of Colorado school finance.
Day 3 (PM): Monitoring Progress & Refining 90-Day Plans (SPRM)
 Review progress toward goals, analyze benchmarks, and refine strategic plans with peer feedback.
Winter Convening
December 10–11 | Colorado League (In Person)

This convening focuses on deepening instructional leadership and strengthening staff culture.
Day 1 (AM): Deepening Instructional Leadership – HQIM (ILS)
 Evaluate and select high-quality instructional materials and strengthen teacher planning through internalization processes.
Day 1 (PM): Deepening Instructional Leadership – Professional Development (ILS)
 Identify effective professional development practices and refine plans to build teacher capacity.
Day 2 (AM): Fostering a Strong Staff Culture (HMAC)
 Develop leadership strategies to build and sustain a strong, inclusive staff culture.
Day 2 (PM): Monitoring Progress & Refining 90-Day Plans (SPRM)
 Assess progress toward school-wide goals and refine 90-day plans.
Spring Convening
Learning Lab: February 24

Sessions: February 25–26 | Colorado League (In Person)
The final convening focuses on sustaining leadership impact and strengthening long-term systems.
Day 1: Learning Lab – School Visit
Observe leadership practices focused on prioritization, staff culture, and community engagement.
Day 2 (AM): Leadership Prioritization & Time Management
Develop systems for managing time and focusing on high-leverage leadership priorities.
Day 2 (PM): Strengthening Family & Community Engagement (CEC)
Build strategies for effective family engagement and navigating complex conversations.
Day 3 (AM): Talent Management – Hiring & Retention (HMAC)
Develop staffing plans and strengthen hiring and retention practices.
Day 3 (PM): Monitoring Progress & Final 90-Day Plan Refinement (SPRM)
Review progress, analyze data, and finalize strategic plans for continued implementation.

 

Additional Notes

  • Attendance at all sessions and Learning Labs is expected
  • Sessions are interactive and require active participation
  • Leaders will apply learning directly to their school context throughout the program
