Hi Melia, With most of our Colorado charter schools now in full swing for the new school year, we wanted to share a few important CONNECT updates with you:
- Based on CONNECT Cohort survey results from this past May, we’ve created a full calendar for our meetings for the year, including multiple virtual sessions and two, in-person workshops. Our first meeting is scheduled for next Thursday, September 14, from 12:00-1:00 PM. We’ll welcome guest speakers Candra Morris, Dr. Jennifer Torres, EdD and Steven Kiisel from Waterford.org to discuss best practices that utilize the start of the school year to maximize family engagement in your school’s marketing efforts. They’ll also provide ample resources to amplify existing engagement programs.
- To access the new CONNECT cohort online community and annual calendar, including calendar invitations and Zoom links, you are required to log in to the new website. Once logged in, navigate to My Groups>CONNECT Cohort and click “Join Group” if not already joined. You’ll find the list of meetings, calendar invitations and associated Zoom links under the “Meetings” tab.
- A number of this year’s meetings are designed to be working sessions, allowing you to utilize session strategies and meeting time to complete guided tasks that support your marketing and communications objectives.
- In addition to our CONNECT Cohort, new this year is a focused workshop series entitled: Leveraging Community Engagement to Drive Continuous Enrollment. This hybrid series of community engagement, school recruitment and continuous enrollment workshops is the next step in development for both school leaders and site-based owners of enrollment and community engagement. Because enrollment is a responsibility that can and should be shared across teams, this workshop series will help attendees set a new vision and norm for school recruitment across their school, while deep-diving into a wealth of practices, tools, and frameworks that can be adapted to any context. We encourage you to share with your school leader and attend these more in-depth workshops as time permits.
- We’ll post ongoing updates and items of interest in the new CONNECT cohort group. Login and join us there today!
Designed for communications staff, marketing teams and registrars, our CONNECT Cohort provides the first step in accessing ongoing training opportunities and best practices in the broader areas of charter school marketing, communication and community engagement. If you know of anyone who may be interested in joining our Cohort’s supporting initiatives, please connect them with us! We’re looking forward to engaging with all of you this year and getting to know those who may be new to the group! If you have any questions or need assistance over the course of this new school year, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Regards, Pete
