BREAKING LEGISLATIVE UPDATE: Bond Bill Passes Senate Education Committee

FullSizeRender.jpeg

Just minutes ago, SB-145 cleared the Senate Education Committee, a major step forward in ensuring charter schools are considered more fairly in local capital funding decisions. This bill strengthens the process by requiring districts to meaningfully include charter schools when they go for a bond and gives voters clearer, more transparent insight into how those decisions are made.

This is a big deal. While there’s still a long path ahead before this becomes law, advancing a proactive, charter-focused bill such as this in today’s political and fiscal environment was never guaranteed. But we stayed focused, engaged directly with those who had concerns, worked through tough conversations, and today’s vote reflects that progress.

We want to expressly thank the charter school leaders and supporters who testified and supported this bill in committee. Efforts like this are why we are confident our movement will both defend past gains and continue advancing a bold, proactive agenda for charter schools across the state.

We’ll keep you posted as SB-145 moves forward.

Thank you for your ongoing support,
