Advocacy & Policy

Federal and state education policies are evolving, creating both challenges and opportunities for charter school leaders. In this dynamic panel, three charter CEOs from Colorado will share how they have led their schools through past policy transitions—addressing funding changes, new accountability measures, and shifting regulatory landscapes. Attendees will gain practical strategies for change management, decision-making, and engaging communities in times of uncertainty. The session will open with a welcome and framing of today’s policy landscape, followed by an opening question that highlights leaders’ mission-driven moments despite political headwinds. Panelists will then share real-world examples of how they’ve led their schools through policy transitions, including funding changes, accountability shifts, and compliance challenges. The moderator will guide directed questions to panelists, encouraging dialogue and cross-sharing, before opening the floor to audience Q&A. The session will close with a reflective question inviting panelists to share what gives them hope as leaders in this dynamic environment. Participants will leave with strategies for managing change, supporting staff and families, and maintaining resilience and focus in the face of evolving policies.
