Jabali Sawicki

Jabali Sawicki is the Compass Director of nXu, a youth purpose incubator whose mission is to catalyze a diverse community of youth to explore, articulate, and pursue their purpose. Prior to joining nXu Jabali served as the Senior Director of Inspire at Relay Graduate School of Education, an independent, nonprofit graduate school of education that focuses on training and supporting great teachers and leaders working in our nation’s high-needs public schools. Prior to that, Jabali served as a founding Instructional Designer at Zearn, a non-profit digital learning organization currently serving over 2,000,000 students.
Jabali has extensive experience working in schools. He taught middle school science at Roxbury Preparatory Charter School, one of the highest performing urban charter schools in the state of Massachusetts. Jabali also served as the founding principal and Head of School of Excellence Boys Charter School, of Bedford Stuyvesant located in Brooklyn, NY. Excellence, a member of Uncommon Schools, a high performing network of charter schools, was the first single-sex public charter school in New York State. Excellence prepares its 750 young boys in grades K-8 to enter, succeed in, and graduate from outstanding college preparatory high schools and colleges. For his exceptional leadership and commitment to educational equity, Jabali has received numerous awards and recognition including being selected as a KIPP Fisher Fellow in 2003.
Jabali currently sits on the advisory board for the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy in South Africa, the Leadership Council of the Robin Hood Foundation in New York City, the national board of Summer Search, a leadership development program focused on low income youth, the board of German School Brooklyn, the national board of Breakthrough Collaborative, and the board of Uncommon Schools in New York City.
After 21 years in education Jabali continues to be committed to improving educational outcomes for all students.
