Strong financial governance requires the right people asking the right questions. Hear from a school finance leader and school leader about how an effective finance committee can support the business office and board, especially as schools navigate changing enrollment and funding, along with the key questions every school leader and board should be asking about their school’s financial position.
Ms. Whitney is currently the Controller at Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools. Before joining the Ascent team, she served as Executive Director of Operations and Finance for Stargate Charter School in Thornton, Colorado, for over 20 years. Ms. Whitney also brings private-sector business experience, having spent her early career as controller of a mid-size wholesale print manufacturing company, director of sales for a large charter boat operation, and owner and general manager of a large scuba training facility and charter boat business. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government/Economics from St. Lawrence University, Canton, New York, and a Master of Business Administration from Clarkson University, Potsdam, New York.
