A new federal tax credit taking effect in 2027 could significantly reshape how families, donors, and public schools engage with Scholarship Granting Organizations, or SGOs. For charter schools, this emerging landscape may create new opportunities to expand student access, develop strategic partnerships, and participate in services supported through scholarship funds.  

This session will provide an accessible overview of the federal tax credit, how SGOs operate, and the decisions states must make before implementation. Participants will explore what this opportunity could mean for Colorado’s charter sector, how schools and networks might prepare, and the key policy and operational questions leaders should be considering now.
