Kelly Stiles
Gifted and Talented Teacher On Special Assignment (TOSA), Charter Schools, Aurora Public Schools
My core values are curiosity, integrity, creativity, community, and autonomous learning. I believe strongly in transformational education, in developing sustainable and healthy systems, and in nourishment of the whole self.
My career in education began as an English Language Arts teacher in a large suburban high school with urban qualities. After eight years, I put my MA in gifted education to use by designing and becoming the district's first site-based Gifted and Talented Coordinator. I eventually moved to a district-level position supporting the same work in charter schools across the district. My passion for this work has led me to pursue a Ph.D. in gifted education through the University of Northern Colorado (in progress). I have held leadership positions in multiple organizations supporting gifted education. In addition to my work in gifted education, I continue to exercise my skill in curriculum design and instruction through my business, The Rhetor’s Toolbox, which provides engaging, high-quality resources for teaching language arts.
I engage in urban farming at my home and am excited to use this skill set to develop hands-on, brains-on learning about sustainable living for my community.
