State accountability can be complicated, especially in a charter school context where the roles of the governing board, school leadership, School Accountability Committee (SAC), and authorizer intersect. This session will provide charter school board members and leaders with a practical understanding of the statutory requirements related to state accountability, Unified Improvement Planning (UIP), and SACs.

Participants will explore what these requirements mean for charter school governing boards and how boards can appropriately use accountability information to ask meaningful questions, monitor improvement efforts, and support student outcomes. CDE staff will also share practical resources and tools designed to help boards navigate their statutory and governance responsibilities.
