Workshop/Breakout Sessions
As the 2024 Colorado legislative session approaches, charter school leaders face potential policy changes and funding decisions that may significantly impact their schools. Join us for an informative session led by Angelina Sierra-Sandoval, the League's Director of Government Affairs, to gain a comprehensive understanding of the League's policy agenda and the key bills being considered in the upcoming session. We’ll also address anticipated outcomes and funding impacts.

Angelina’s specializes in advocating for favorable policies for public charter schools at the state and local levels while managing the League’s State & Local Policy Team. At the state level, this includes laws, rules and governance decisions made by the State Legislature, State Board of Education and the Colorado Department of Education. Locally, this focus encompasses policies and governance decisions made by school district boards, counties and municipalities as it relates to public charter schools.
Shares Angelina, “As a daughter of a single mother who found her leadership voice through charter school advocacy, I can attest to how important it is for families to have quality choices in schools. I strongly believe that if a student has access to a quality school, it can change the trajectory of their life forever. Every child in this state deserves that opportunity.”
Angelina brings a wealth of experience working in education policy and with legislators in Colorado, including as the Special Policy Advisor to the House Majority Leader Crisanta Duran from 2015-2017. She also brings lobbying experience from her work as the Intergovernmental Affairs Manager at Denver Public Schools, and has additional background in advocacy and within the legislature. She holds both a Bachelor of Arts in political science & pre-law and a Master’s in public administration & local government from the University of Colorado-Denver. Angelina is a proud 5th generation Coloradoan and enjoys spending her time with her husband and their two children, Israel & Isla.
