(39) Detracking Through Acceleration

1.30pm – 2.30pm MST, 26 February 2026 ‐ 1 hour

Room: Conifer (1,2,3)

Quality: Academics

High-quality education challenges all students to reach their fullest potential while providing the support they need to succeed. One of the most effective ways to achieve this is through Tier 1 instruction that sets a high ceiling for learning—ensuring every student engages with rigorous, grade-level content while receiving intentional scaffolding to meet diverse learning needs.
New Vision Charter School will share how this vision became a reality through strong teacher–leader collaboration. Participants will learn how the school designed and implemented an “advanced math for all” model in middle school, grounded in de-tracking and high-quality Tier 1 instruction.

Leadership and math teachers will walk through their process — from initial planning to full implementation —including scope and sequence design, differentiation strategies, strategic questioning, collaborative discussions, and built-in reflection structures. Presenters will highlight how these supports maintain high expectations while helping every student access complex content.

This approach has transformed classrooms into dynamic, supportive environments where students build confidence, resilience, and a stronger relationship with math. Join this session to learn how challenging all students — paired with thoughtful scaffolding — led to more meaningful instruction, safer learning environments, and a positive shift in math mindsets across the school.
